Midlands Spotlight: Sophie Donald, Founder of Zest Marketing

What made you want to be a marketer?

I loved marketing before I even knew it was marketing! From the age of 15, I was developing websites, and doing social media influencing, and by the time I got into the workplace, I realised I’d been doing it my whole life! What I love most is the blend of data and design, I’m a creative person but I also love data, so it’s literally the perfect job for me.

 

What excites you most about marketing?

Marketing excites me because it’s always evolving, and in my mind, it’s almost like a race. And I’m competitive. I love seeing campaigns come to life, and my clients happy because I’ve given their brand a voice.

 

What would your advice be for fellow marketers?

My advice would be to keep learning and adapting. Don’t be scared to put ideas forward, and always try to think outside the box. Build your personal brand on LinkedIn. It’s one of the best things I’ve done to support my career growth, and along the way, I’ve met an incredible group of marketers who have even become friends!

 

Over the next 2-3 years, what developments in marketing are you looking forward to the most?

I’m really looking forward to how AI will play a role in our jobs and how we’ll end up using it to be more efficient. I’m not scared of AI; I see it as a tool to make us more strategic!
