Some descriptionA team of students from Nottingham Trent University and Leeds Beckett University has won the highly coveted The Pitch competition 2017.  This annual nationwide marketing competition for students is designed to recognise and reward the marketing talent of the future.

Evie Johnson from Nottingham Trent University and Tom Brown from Leeds Beckett University presented their pitch to industry leaders in response to a marketing challenge set by student travel company - Student Universe.

The challenge they undertook was: In North America, Student Universe is the number one choice for student and youth travel; having now launched into the UK, what marketing plan would you undertake to achieve similar success in this market.

Evie and Tom’s ideas were praised for being unique and realist in a business environment. They   used a mixture of clever targeting techniques and a wide range of strategic tactics.  Their proposal included Website development, online sales channel, Social media campaign, CRM partnership, Blogger activation and a Loyalty scheme

Feedback from the judges included that they also had excellent presenting skills which had clearly been rehearsed and they were prepared for all of the judge’s questions.

The pair have won a  £3000 cash prize, VIP Tickets to CIM’s Marketing Excellence Awards,  One year’s complimentary CIM membership and they will be announced as  Winners of the ‘Marketers of the future’ award at CIM’s Marketing Excellence Awards.
