Reminder: complete your CPD activity
Like all professionals you endeavour to keep your skills and knowledge up to date. Our Chartered CPD Programme provides a structure that really helps. It can also lead to Chartered Marketer status. Deadlines are looming so stay in control.
CPD = Continued Professional Development
Chartered Marketer status is the mark of an informed, experienced and qualified marketing professional. We have been recognising professional excellence by awarding Chartered Marketer status since being granted the authority to do so by The Queen’s Privy Council in 1998.
Becoming Chartered
To become a Chartered Marketer and gain recognition for your expertise you need to:
- Complete 35 hours of CPD activity annually (1 July – 30 June) for a minimum of two consecutive years
- Be Member (MCIM) or Fellow (FCIM) grade – but remember you can start CPD activity at any grade of membership.
- Complete and submit your CPD record card along with evidence each year for two consecutive years by the annual deadline.
If you aren’t a Member (MCIM) or Fellow (FCIM) at the end of your second consecutive year, you can apply for an upgrade. You must obtain the upgrade to MCIM or FCIM by 31 December in order to achieve Chartered Marketer status that year.
Once you become Chartered you are committed to keeping up your CPD activity. A 10% sample of Chartered Marketers are required to provide their record cards each year.
The deadlines
The current CPD year runs from 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2014. So now is the time to check your CPD activities are on track and your record card is complete. You still have time to accumulate any remaining hours you need.
