Marketing clubs

If you’ve not been to one of our new marketing clubs, you’ll find mind-expanding topics on brand propositions, social advertising and how to think like a creative. These clubs are run jointly by CIM and universities, to give practicing marketers an opportunity to take some time-out, challenge thinking, learn new skills and share experiences with the next generation of marketing talent. London College of Fashion (part of University of the Arts) and the London South Bank University will be holding their first events whilst the recently launched club at the University of East London (UEL), continues its programme in Stratford.

18 October: How to develop a strong brand proposition

Get to grips with the current role of branding and the importance of developing a clear brand proposition that has a strong point of difference versus the competition at the latest CIM/UEL (University of East London) Marketing Club.

20 November: Social advertising

Understanding the impact of social advertising, is key to any marketer with a vested interest in the advertising industry. During this CIM/London College of Fashion Marketing Club, we’ll focus on the two major social media platforms – Facebook and Instagram – and explore the different targeting and creative options available.

27 November: How to think like your creative agency

Creative problem solving is not just brainstorming, most good ideas are a result of a team spending time trying to solve a specific problem or issue.Our sector group for Creative Communications co-host this Marketing Club event with the London South Bank University to explore how you might think more creatively, drawing from the perspective of a creative agency. 

Soft Skills for Hard Results series

It’s recognised that marketers require soft skills to complement their technical marketing capability. With our ‘Soft Skills for Hard Results’ series, you have the opportunity to improve your leadership and strategic management skills, and make a greater impact on your career, in your organisation and on global markets. Upcoming events show how to harness mindfulness and build intercultural leadership.

10 October: Mindfulness for peak performance

The third event in our new ‘Soft Skills for Hard Results’ series looks at how marketers can use mindfulness to improve their performance in their personal and professional life.

14 November: Intercultural leadership skills

Improve your leadership and strategic management skills, and make a greater impact on your career, in your organisation and on global markets, at our fourth event in the ‘Soft Skills for Hard Results’ event series.

Summit and sector insights

Our annual CIM Digital Summit takes place on 17 October with strategic pointers and inspirational predictions. Stay attuned to trends in travel, insights in food and drink, and marketing practices in the medical and construction sectors, with London events organised by our Sector Interest Groups.

17 October: Digital Summit 2017

In an environment of constant change, increased noise and new technologies, it can be hard to know where to focus your digital efforts. This year’s Digital Summit will look at the key steps required to align your digital activity with your target audience. Starting with an update on the latest insights, we’ll then help develop your strategy and plans, before moving on to discuss the latest tactical tools and techniques to implement them. Finally, we’ll finish with an inspiring look into the future and explore what this might mean for you and your organisation.

23 October: Social media engagement within construction

This seminar is designed to help those responsible for social media strategy or implementation to update themselves on current thinking. Hosted by the Construction Industry Group, it presents the latest findings from research into construction media usage, gives insight into blogging and includes a case study of social media in action.

30 October: Travel marketing: trends to watch

This fast-paced Travel Industry Group seminar has been designed specifically for senior travel marketing professionals as well as agencies involved in travel & tourism marketing. An introductory overview by Accord Marketing, will be followed by four 15-minute presentations each covering new and emerging marketing tools and techniques. 

8 November: How to run a memorable event

Face-to-face engagement with customers remains an important element of business strategy for construction and building product companies. This Construction Group seminar demonstrates techniques and processes supported with examples from award winning companies.

22 November: The importance of customer experience in medical marketing

Great companies provide seamless experiences, seeming to know what customers want before they know it themselves. At the end of this short course hosted by the Medical Marketing Group, you should have an appreciation of the importance of the end-to-end customer experience (CX) effort and how the whole company must work together to meet customers’ reasonable expectations and to manage their unreasonable expectations.

29 November: What is happening in UK food and drink in 2017?
Fraser McKevitt is Head of Retail and Consumer Insight at KANTAR World Panel, one of the leading market research houses in the world and used by nearly all the main food and drink companies and retailers in the UK.  Fraser will give an overview of what has happened in the UK market over the last 12 months and some insight as to what might happen in the next 12 months. This event is hosted by our Food, Drink and Agriculture Group.
