Fiona Spencer, who is well known to many for her stalwart efforts with the local Gloucestershire team and as Vice Chair of the South West Regional Board, has been elected to CIM’s Board of Trustees.
The board is responsible for the overall governance of CIM and its affairs, it is answerable to members for the activities and functioning of CIM and the extent to which its objectives have been met.
Fiona has been elected for a three-year term, Fiona has been a member of the Appointments and Remuneration Committee since 2014 and was elected Chair in December 2015.
Upon taking up her new role, Fiona has had to step down from her regional commitments. Fiona commented: “I am sad in some ways to be leaving the South West Regional Board, as I have enjoyed my time working with a lively regional team and in particular bringing rigour to the reporting process and financial awareness and control of the board”.
“I have also enjoyed working with colleagues in Gloucestershire to animate the CIM offer to local members. I shall certainly still be attending events to keep up-to-date with the latest in marketing and networking with some great people. However, I am delighted and honoured to have been elected to the CIM Board of Trustees and look forward to making a contribution over the next three years.
I would encourage other members to get involved and look out for opportunities to do so, as it is a rewarding and interesting thing to do.”
Brian Doidge, Chair of CIMs South West Regional Board said; “Fiona has made a very positive contribution to the board and to our members in the South West, and we will of course miss her. However, this is a very prestigious appointment and we have no doubt that she will quickly add real value to the workings of the Board of Trustees. We are really delighted for Fiona and wish her well, as she makes her transition and of course in her future endeavours”.
