Alia Weir

Alia Weir, BA (Hons) DipM MCIM Chartered Marketer.

Alia has over 25 years’ experience in commercial marketing, both B2C and B2B, having been a member of CIM throughout.

In her early career, Alia worked for leading blue chip FMCG companies including Trebor Bassett (Cadbury’s), Boots, Nestle and Dairy Crest. During this time, she successfully developed market-leading grocery brands, while broadening her marketing skills from classic Brand management to include channel marketing, CRM, category management, and shopper marketing.

In her latest role as the Head of Marketing Communications for a government trading fund, Alia had responsibility for marketing data services under the £180m ADMIRALTY Brand. She led the global brand, content, and digital functions in-house and managed specialist agencies, encompassing everything from strategy, brand development, campaigns, advertising and MarTech, social strategy, and large-scale conferences and events. During her tenure, she developed the organisation’s purpose, values and modernised the Brand.

In this role, she also expanded and upskilled the Marketing Communications team to evolve their capabilities in line with the latest marketing trends and growing digital marketing requirements – enabling her team to undertake professional CIM qualifications and gain promotions advertised externally as a result.

Alia prides herself on being a pragmatic and results-driven marketer; her strength lies in turning around Brand performance and balancing long-term brand development with annual revenue/corporate targets to drive growth. She is passionate about customer insight and delivering a seamless experience from strategy to implementation.

Alia is currently taking a short career break to focus on family, but misses marketing too much not to be involved with CIM's South West and Channel islands Regional Committee.
