CIM in Gloucestershire joins forces with CIPD to examine the subject of Employer Branding, from both a marketing and HR perspective, at an event on 9 March 2016 at University of Gloucestershire’s Park Campus.
As marketers we have developed techniques to attract customers, to communicate with them effectively and we have developed strategies to define our brands and encourage customer loyalty. The concept of employer branding applies a similar approach to people management and describes how an organisation markets what it has to offer to potential and existing employees. Employer branding, if effective, will extend core brand values and add value to the bottom line by attracting the best talent and increasing employee retention.
A strong employer brand should connect an organisation’s values, people strategy and HR policies to the company brand, but which discipline is best placed to ensure this happens effectively?
On 9 March, a panel of speakers, including CIM Fellows, Fiona Spencer and Steve Hughes, join Gloucestershire CIPD Chair, Fiona Chatham who is HR Business partner at Ecotricity and David Townsend, MD at EVPeople to discuss why Employer Branding is important and where the responsible for it lies.
Fiona Spencer explains: “The event presents a welcome opportunity to jointly present on a trending topic with Human Resource professionals and to examine Employer Branding from two different business disciplines. The aim is to learn from each other’s skill sets and to help local business professionals consider the subject and decide how it fits within their own business operation”.
Fiona Chatham comments: “In today’s competitive labour market, it’s more important than ever to have a strong brand to attract good talent. This joint event gives us a great opportunity to look at this subject from both a Marketing and HR perspective and share experiences.”
