Blog on how to market to students
Over the past couple of months, University of Gloucestershire’s Marketing Society’s student-led agency, Minte Marketing, has been involved in a consultancy project with Cheltenham based student marketing agency, BAM.
Bethany Smith, UOG Marketing Society President, explains what their members offer a new blogging programme on how to market to students.
We are involved in BAM’s newly started blogging programme; this involves the agency writing blog posts aimed at providing tips and insights to businesses on how to market to students. Being a team of young and enthusiastic students, we were eager to take on this new challenge; and who better to write about what students want, than students themselves?
So far, our posts have been on the topics Halloween Marketing to Students, Top 3 Christmas Adverts as Voted for by the 2014 Student Generation and What Students Look for in a Brand.
These blog posts have been a beneficial experience for our members; allowing them to apply the knowledge and skills they have developed from university assignments and extracurricular experiences to a hands-on, real project. Therefore, our members’ employability has been greatly enhanced; and as a society, we have already seen progress on our aim to provide those interested in pursuing a career in marketing, experience and the opportunity to try their hand at numerous roles such as research, copy and editing. As the society and agency develops, we look forward to establishing new partnerships with organisations and enhancing our relationship with the CIM.
