Graduate Bradley Johnson achieves 1st Class Degree and 2 CIM qualifications in his time at University of Hertfordshire
After recently graduating from the University of Hertfordshire with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Marketing with Event Management BA (Hons) the future is bright for Bradley Johnson (pictured). However, not only is he starting his career with a 1st Class degree, he has also achieved both the CIM Introductory Certificate and CIM Professional Certificate qualifications in his time at University, alongside winning a Business School Award in Professional Development and gaining a nomination for another Award in Employability Enhancement.
“Since studying at the University of Hertfordshire, my lecturers including Nicky Shevlane, have always encouraged me to look at professional development. Since graduating having the CIM and CMI qualifications has made me stand out in the market and my ACIM accreditation has really added to my CV. Doing CIM was one of the best choices I made while at University and I would recommend it to any undergraduate student .” Bradley Johnson.
This outstanding achievement is a first from a student from Hertfordshire Business School and is a credit to the way the university works with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) to closely integrate the degree content with the CIM professional qualifications.
Nicky Shevlane, Senior Marketing Lecturer at the University says, “The University of Hertfordshire has worked closely with CIM for many years to ensure that our degree programmes are recognised by CIM and to entitle our graduates to exemptions from professional qualifications. In 2004, Hertfordshire Business School became a CIM accredited study and exam centre offering qualifications at all levels to the local market.. As one of CIM’s first University ‘Graduate Gateway’ partners, the University of Hertfordshire started more recently to provide CIM training to students alongside their degrees.
We are incredibly proud of the first group of students to gain both the CIM Introductory Certificate and CIM Professional Certificate, having passed 4 CIM units. The first being Bradley Johnson, the others will graduate in 2016 after taking a placement year”.
To date 45 full qualifications and numerous single awards have been passed by undergraduates whilst studying at this university. This enables students aiming to go into marketing careers to benefit from professional qualifications and professional development.
An incredible achievement for both Bradley and the University, Professor Damian Ward, Dean of Hertfordshire Business School, is keen these opportunities continue for their students, “At Hertfordshire Business School we are passionate about providing a transformational student experience, where young people enter as students and leave prepared for a lifetime of challenges in a global economy. Bradley has engaged with the opportunities that we offer with ambition and energy; and we are enormously proud of what he has achieved.”
