Traidcraft and CIM have joined forces to host an exciting event showcasing Just Friday, an alternative Black Friday campaign that has reached over 1.5 million people since launching in 2014.
Just Friday offers shoppers an alternative to the frenzy of Black Friday bargain hunting and encourages people to take a moment to stop, breathe, and buy their gifts mindfully and ethically. By buying from ethical organisations, consumers shopping on Black Friday can use their spending power to help people in developing countries across the world.
The event, which takes place on 17 November, will combine presentations about Just Friday and Christmas digital marketing campaigns, plus the wider Traidcraft business. There will also be a question and answer session with Joseph Marsh, Traidcraft Digital Marketing Manager, and Social Media Coordinator, Kate Usher. This will be followed by a tour of the Traidcraft office and shop.
Jenna Tiffany, who is organising the event on behalf of CIM, said: “This is a unique opportunity to hear about a leading-light business and exciting campaign.” Joseph Marsh, Traidcraft’s Digital Marketing Manager, said: “Our Just Friday campaign offers consumers an alternative to materialistic ‘consumption culture’ and has really struck a chord with many. We’re delighted that it has grown in popularity year-on-year and hope that this year’s campaign will be an even bigger success. “Even if just a small percentage of money spent on the day was on fair trade products, this could help us improve the lives of tens of thousands of people across the developing world and make a huge difference to someone’s life.”
The free event, titled ‘#JustFriday: Born in the North East’ will be held at Traidcraft’s offices on 17 November from 17:00 and is free to all.
