CIM starts search for Yorkshire’s next marketing greats

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) has announced that the CIM Marketing Excellence Awards 2020 are now open for entries. The awards recognise and reward brilliance in the field of marketing, celebrating the finest minds within the profession.

Last year, Yorkshire competed strongly across a range of categories. Leeds Playhouse was victorious and won the award for Best Brand Building Campaign (SME) and were also awarded with highly commended for Best Use of PR.

Discussing their success from last year’s Marketing Excellence Awards, Leeds Playhouse Executive Director Robin Hawkes said: “To be credited with these two prestigious accolades from the CIM is a significant achievement for Leeds Playhouse. Our aim was that our recent rebrand would rearticulate the ambition and values of the theatre, within both Leeds City Region and the theatre industry nationally.

“Our Every Third Minute festival aimed to create a shift in understanding of work with people living with dementia, and external comms played a critical part in realising this. Delivering these two campaigns successfully involved the whole of our organisation, and we are also grateful for invaluable work from our partners Anita Morris and Reggie London in relation to the rebrand. I am particularly proud of what we have achieved, and how this awards reflects the vision and dedication of our Marketing & Comms team.”

Yorkshire chair of CIM, Claire Pryke said: “We are beginning our search for Yorkshire’s next marketing success. Whether you have ran a successful campaign or would like to showcase your marketing achievements over the past year, the CIM Marketing Excellence awards is a perfect opportunity to give recognition and reward the finest minds within the marketing profession. Let’s use the awards to showcase Yorkshire’s marketing talent.”

To mark the awards’ eleventh anniversary, the event will be held for the first time at The Brewery - in the City of London, the original Georgian brewhouse of Whitbread. New also for 2020 are six new industry sector categories including financial services, FMCG and retail, awarding outstanding marketing by organisations, teams and individuals who are at the cutting-edge of their profession. Marketers and organisations have until 22 November to submit their entries.

The Marketing Excellence Awards 2020 will also see the winning team from the finalists of CIM’s student competition, The Pitch, which is sponsored by Lidl, presented with the ‘Marketers of the Future’ award.

Discussing the launch of the awards, Chris Daly, chief executive of CIM, said: “For over a decade, the Marketing Excellence Awards have recognised and rewarded brilliance in the field of marketing, celebrating the finest talent within our profession. On the 2nd of April 2020, over 600 professionals from across the field of marketing will gather to find out who will be crowned the best-of-the-best in their field of marketing. We had some strong entries from Yorkshire last year, I expect them to be strong again in 2020. Good luck to everyone who enters, I am sure you will all enjoy this evening of celebration.”
