Barnsley Council is celebrating after winning the Public Sector Campaign at the 2017 CIM Northern Awards.

Held at The Monastery, Manchester on Thursday 09 November, the CIM Northern Awards celebrated the insight, creativity and success of the Northern marketing industry, the outstanding campaigns and the talent from across the region. There were 17 award categories, 13 of which were open to entries, and the evening was hosted by TV's Andy Crane.

Diane Earles, Network Manager for CIM, said "Congratulations to Barnsley Council, who fought off strong competition in this category."

Their winning campaign was a behavioural change campaign called #EverybodyThink which aimed to tackle fly-tipping in the area.  Richard Kenyon, Chair of CIM North West, who judged the category sponsored by nesma, said "This was a well-thought out and effective campaign that achieved strong results despite resource restrictions and I particularly liked the use of 'stunts' to launch the campaign and create cut-through."

Diana Terris, Chief Executive at Barnsley Council, said "We're delighted to win this prestigious award for our #EverybodyThink campaign. Many different services from across the council worked together with the communications and marketing team to create something that was truly innovative and creative. Like many public sector organisations we're working with less money and more demand so it's great to be recognised for our efforts in this area."
