CIM qualifications have helped boost Emma’s marketing knowledge
The North East spotlight is on Marketing Services Coordinator at Renolit, Emma Tarbuck.
Renolit is an independent, family-owned German company, renowned worldwide for its technical excellence, modern product design and cooperative service. It specialises in high-quality plastic films and its UK base is in Northumberland, Cramlington.
How long have you been at Renolit and what is your role?
I joined Renolit as an apprentice in 2012 and, upon completing my apprenticeship, I was appointed as a marketing assistant before progressing to junior product manager. Having been at the company for nine years, I now work within our marketing team as B2B marketing services coordinator alongside our marketing services manager, marketing manager and product managers. In a nutshell, I help to support our loyal customers, organise promotional activity and marketing services such as email marketing, producing corporate literature and preparing exhibitions.
Have CIM qualifications benefited your marketing knowledge?
Yes, definitely. It is actually thanks to the progressive nature of the management team at Renolit who approached me and asked if I would like to develop my skill-set and they have really supported me on this journey.
I started to enhance my knowledge with the Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Professional Marketing, learning about the principles of marketing and how I could apply this to my role. Working in a traditional B2B organisation, I also enjoyed learning about digital skills and building on my tactical marketing skills. I then jumped from Level 4 to the Level 6 Diploma in Professional Marketing which helped me to advance my thinking when it came to developing strategies. This has helped me to progress my marketing career and to perform professionally within my role.
How has your role changed during the pandemic?
My role has changed, in that marketing has rightly moved to the forefront of all of our activity. Members of the team have not been able to travel to meetings at our HQ in Germany and this quickly led to all of our interaction pivoting online. Internal communication within the team has increased as has our external email marketing campaigns.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the CIM community?
I enjoy having a support base that I can readily tap into. I do miss interacting with people, so I am looking forward to attending events in the future and I keep in touch with the girls who I studied with at CIM. At some point, I may look to progress to a CIM Level 7 qualification. Never say never.
