Lots has been written about the decline of print, the shift to digital and the struggle for sustainability in media models. Is there a future for newspapers, magazines and the regional press? Will all future generations get their information from the likes of Buzzfeed, VICE News and social media? This is the topic of the next CIM Lancashire event to be held on 12 May.
Nicola Shaw, who is organizing the event, said “Rory Brown, co-founder and CMO of Briefing Media, will argue that the media industry is often starting in the wrong place by concentrating on platforms rather than communities. He will tell the story of building a thriving media business and how the challenge for marketers is more about adjusting your mind set than adapting to digital - although that is important too!” Rory has worked as a senior marketer in media markets for all of his career. His background is in building subscriptions and events for some of the leading media companies in the country. Rory co-founded a new company - Briefing Media - in 2010 and has built this start up from a self-financed entrepreneurial digital publisher to one of the fastest growing B2B businesses in the UK. Briefing Media currently operate from headquarters in London and Preston and operate in the agricultural information and media strategy sectors.
The event, titled ‘Is traditional media dead?’ will be hosted and sponsored by University Centre at Blackburn College on 12 May and is open to CIM members and non-members. To secure your place go to http://regions.cim.co.uk/North or call 01628 427340 during office hours.
