What are you looking forward to getting stuck into in 2021?

This post relates to our series of 'Discussion Topics' that we post every month in our CIM South West Community Group on LinkedIn. In light of all the lockdowns this seemed like a topic that could provide some positivity and hope.

Having worked hard over the last few months (on my own marketing and BD and reframing the products and services I offer, developing skills and knowledge) I'm looking forward to seeing all this work pay off and get real, tangible traction in the business.

James Massey

Quite simply - Getting back into a marketing role and running brand workshops.

Emma Charlton

Personally seeing friends for dinner when we can, getting my full motorbike licence and continuing to love the opportunities my job gives me to meet and talk to interesting people.

Stefano Pucello

In my role as an International Trade Adviser for the Department of International Trade (DIT), I look forward to supporting more Companies in the SW region in reaching new markets overseas. Did you know the DIT support is free of charge?

Verity Studley-Wootton

I'm looking forward to (what I hope will be 2021) being able to visit and spend time face to face with clients again! And on a personal note, I hope to be able to hold part 2 of our wedding and take a holiday out of the country! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Sarah Patten

Face to face meetings with colleagues, external partnerships and moving plans forward. Lots of ideas and hopes planned - just waiting to get stuck in!

Nicola Hardy

On a personal note I am hoping that we can return to going to the theatre which I have really missed! On a professional note hoping to be able to help businesses look at where they can succeed in 2021 by adapting or launching new models of doing things.

Gerry Vincent

I hope to take some of the learnings of 2020 lockdown with me into 2021 :) I don't need to underline how hard it's been, but we have all changed and I hope the compassion, the empathy, the support I have seen continues to colour and shape our lives for the better as lockdown eases. I also hope, sincerely, that everyone who has lost their job, finds renewed hope and a new purpose. For me, I love digital so I'm looking forward to cracking on with client work in this area. I've helped my husband start a business, which I hope he gets great satisfaction from - I'll enjoy watching him grow it. And I can't wait to get back into the mountains (and put some of that recent hill running to some good)!

2021 will bring challenges for all businesses, through brexit and the pandemic. It's looking like it'll be necessary to be completely agile. For us marketers, the ability to accommodate change without being held back by outdated strategies will be vital, as the business world adjusts to new trading situations and requirements. More so than ever, cash will be king as many businesses will cease trading, with large debts; it's important not to be caught out.

Tunde Awe

Personally, I’m looking forward to collaboration opportunities presented by the structural changes the pandemic has ushered in. What will new normal look like and what would it mean for marketing and talent development going forward?

Kath Dawson

Professionally I'm looking forward to the buzz that comes with confidence. Being surrounded by positivity and progress rather than uncertainty is a mindset we could all benefit from. Personally I am looking forward to hugging my friends and family. I also can't wait to get back to our Mencap clubs and holidays, I miss that important part of my life a lot!
