Some description

Less than a year since CIM (The Chartered Institute of Marketing) established its new-look Wales Board — two further appointments have been made, completing the expert line-up.

Cardiff-based food marketing specialist, Martin Sutherland, who has held positions at McVitie’s, Tesco and Somerfield, and is now Commercial and Marketing Director at ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre at Cardiff Metropolitan University, will bring years of product marketing and customer engagement experience to the Board.

Meanwhile, Ruth Williams, a marketing director at digital transformation firm, Restore Scan, plans to use her new role on the Board to showcase the benefits of CIM membership, saying: “Much of my career success is down to my involvement with the CIM, so naturally I’m keen to give something back to the community that’s supported me. I’m hoping to help new marketers develop their skills and take full advantage of all the member benefits to further their careers.”

The pair will join eight other Wales Board members, each with their own marketing specialism, to offer strategic input and operational support to CIM Wales Network Manager, Ceri Rowland, under the leadership of CIM Wales Chair, Sameer Rahman.

Speaking about his new role, Martin Sutherland, said: “Building strong connections with Welsh businesses and professional partners is absolutely essential in ensuring that CIM remains current and relevant to its members and wider marketing community. My focus will be on establishing new relationships that add real value to events and activities, while listening to the needs of marketers, from freelancers through to large corporates, to fully represent the business mix in Wales.”

Ceri Rowland, CIM Wales Network Manager, added: “Since the new Board was established last year, we’ve already achieved so much — surveying Wales’ marketing community and planning a refreshed events programme to meet their needs, and working with universities to help future marketers develop their talent.

“These latest appointments bring additional marketing expertise and new skills to the Board, allowing us to work that little bit harder and achieve even more to create a better CIM experience for our members and the wider marketing community of Wales.”
