Some descriptionGo green launches in     February

This year Bristol takes on the coveted, title of European Green Capital. Among the plethora of green projects and activities being supported through Bristol 2015 green capital funding, Go Green is being launched to support businesses and organisations that are working to create ‘a low carbon city with a high quality of life in 2015 and beyond.’ If you’re wondering what a scheme like Go Green has to do with marketing, you don’t have to look very far…

Carole Bond, CIM SW, sustainability and responsible business ambassador explains why local businesses should consider getting involved.

Not only does being resource efficient significantly contribute to the profitability and overall future proofing of your business, but being able to demonstrate authentic environmental credentials is of growing importance to the increasingly savvy buyers across many sectors. Understanding and meeting these emerging customer expectations is naturally a key responsibility of marketers; with all the attendant needs for creative ways of thinking, acting and communicating. For many, developing and delivering a low carbon product or service might feel like a leap into very unfamiliar territory. Go Green could be just the leg-up local marketing professionals need.

Businesses, charities and organisations of all sizes and in all sectors are eligible to join the free scheme, whatever their current social and environmental credentials may (or may not) be. The idea being that Go Green will provide a simple pathway for all.

The Go Green offer includes networking events, workshops and behind the scenes tours to learn from others, as well as access to support and advice, including online guides and webinars. Participating businesses can expect a tailor-made action plan and help with tracking progress as well as the opportunity to connect with other like-minded businesses in the region. Go Green will launch in February. In the meantime, you can register your interest and receive updates when the scheme goes live.
