Phil Batty, Director of Public Engagement and Legacy for Hull UK City of Culture 2017, is celebrating after being crowned Marketer of the Year at the CIM Northern Awards.

Held at The Monastery, Manchester on Thursday 09 November, the CIM Northern Awards celebrated the insight, creativity and success of the Northern marketing industry, the outstanding campaigns and the talent from across the region. Batty was selected as the winner from a shortlist which included marketing leaders from brands like Plusnet, Victoria Plum and Everton FC.

Steve Antoniewicz, Head of Consulting from the Recommended Agency Register, who sponsored and judged this category said,"Selecting the winner was incredibly tough this year, especially for a competitive shortlist of high profile commercial marketers.  Phil has had a hugs responsibility over the last couple of years, as the marketing lead for a City of Culture programme that aims to transform the place and the cultural life of his home city."  He continued, "Managing such a large, complex, public-interest and public facing project would be daunting but add in the promotion of a 365-day programme of 200+ events and it becomes a quite unique marketing challenge."
