North West based marketer Laurie Wood is celebrating after receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 CIM Northern Awards.

Sponsored by the Marketing Trust and held in Manchester on Thursday 09 November, the CIM Northern Awards celebrated the insight, creativity and success of the Northern marketing industry, the outstanding campaigns and the talent from across the region. There were 17 award categories, 13 of which were open to entries, and the evening was hosted by TV's Andy Crane.

CIM CEO, Chris Daly, who presented the award, said "Laurie joined the CIM on 01 November 1983 and has held various voluntary posts on a local scale: Student Members Liaison Officer, Branch Treasurer and Chairman for Manchester, then on a regional scale which included the Regional Chairman for the North West, also nationally and internationally as National Treasurer, Vice Chairman and Chairman.  She was in fact the Millennium Chair of CIM in 2000 and the first woman to hold the post.  If that wasn't enough, she went on to become Chair of The UK Marketing Council and The CAM Foundation, an International Trustee on CIM's board and latterly and currently Vice Chairman of the CIM Benevolent Fund."

Laurie, who is an Honorary Fellow of CIM and has been a Chartered Marketer since 2002, said "I'm surprised and delighted to receive this Lifetime Achievement Award from CIM, however the pleasure of my involvement over the years has been all mine.  There is no better organisation to support a career in marketing and I'm proud to have played my part."
