Some descriptionIf you have ever thought about getting involved with your professional body then now is the time, as we have three exciting opportunities in the Midlands.

The posts of Chair and Vice Chair for Growth & Engagement are fixed three year positions and open for appointment this year, along with a Small Business Ambassador role.

These are extremely important roles that require individuals able to lead and inspire others to build a strong and vibrant marketing community.

All roles require a weekly time commitment but the rewards can be substantial.  Current chair Paul Connor, has held the post of Chair for the last three years and is also standing for re-election, he says, “It is a wonderful honour to have held such a post at the heart of the Midlands marketing community. 

“As a region we have been undergoing a transformation and are poised to enter a period of growth with a new national strategy set for the next three years.

“It is a tremendously exciting time to be involved and whilst I very much hope to be re-elected I would urge anyone that feels they have the skills and the expertise to come forward.”

Current Vice Chair Andrew Davison has held numerous board positions over the last 15 years and understands the rewards and the commitment well.  He says, “It is rewarding to be part of a team that promotes the profession but it is a role that requires dedication and a regular time commitment.

“I have enjoyed the opportunity to give something back and am proud to have played a part in developing innovative programmes that have benefited the region.”

The new Vice Chair will have responsibility for growth and engagement, alongside two other Vice Chair’s that cover education & learning and membership development.  The growth and engagement Vice Chair will be responsible for managing the small business and other specialist sector ambassadors. Key activities include developing contacts and networks in the region, building a plan for growth with agreed milestones and KPIs and supporting the communication plan.

The Chair has a responsibility to lead, manage and motivate the board and the wider marketing community.  They provide an essential link with other relevant organisations, facilitating and building relationships. The chair also provides strategic planning, reviews plans and manages budgets.

The person that is successful in being appointed to the position of Chair will be an experienced marketing professional, who has or is working towards Chartered status.

They will be extremely well connected in the sector and have an in-depth knowledge of business support services and organisations.
