The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) announces today that six leading experts from the forefront of Ireland's growing marketing industry have been appointed to a new-look, Ambassador-led board to help drive activities in Ireland.

Each newly appointed Ambassador brings with them a different area of marketing expertise - with a focus on leading teams on education, food and drink, construction and digital sectors. The move will see CIM Ireland grow the number of chartered marketers in the region, whilst providing a greater level of support to members.

One of the longest serving current board members, Nicola McCleery, who currently also holds the title of Head of Marketing at Danske Bank, will drive awareness and the dissemination of information relating to the Chartered Marketer Standards. CIM is the only organisation in the world with the ability to award Chartered Marketer status.

Nicola, who has won five CIM Ireland Marketing Awards, explains why she has chosen to volunteer as an Ambassador: The Chartered Institute of Marketing has been there for me throughout my career and is a community I get so much from. Becoming chartered in 2012 is a personal commitment and signal to others that I hold myself accountable for maintaining the core and technical standards of a professional marketer, enabling me to compete with the challenges of working in the fast-moving marketing sector.

Over the past year CIM has supported me in improving my knowledge of the new data protection legislation, new market research opportunities and of course, the challenge of pitching my skills against others via the Ireland Marketing Awards. I have been involved in CIM's ˜Get on in Marketing sessions, focused on those starting out on their education and charteredjourney, and I look forward to more events and campaigns supporting people on their professional marketing journey. Ultimately marketing is about creating and developing new business opportunities and good marketing is good business an outcome I also feel passionately about. I look forward to giving more back to an organisation that has supported me over ten years," concluded McCleery.

Dr Lisa Harkness is currently CIM Ireland's Vice Chair. In the coming months, the team will grow further with the appointment of a Chair, a student Ambassador, two further Vice Chairs and a representative from the Republic of Ireland. The team will also recruit new Ambassador roles to represent the growing number of CIM Fellows in the region. Alongside Ambassador roles there is also the chance for people interested in marketing, but not necessary members, to volunteer for project teams.

The board will offer strategic input and operational support to CIM Ireland Network Manager, Carol Magill FCIM.

Discussing appointments, Carol Magill, CIM Ireland Network Manager, said: The Ambassadors are the region's brightest marketing professionals, so I'm delighted to have them on board, bringing their wealth of marketing knowledge and experience to CIM Ireland, its members and wider business community. By appointing experts from all sectors and disciplines from PR to product marketing and academia to analytics - were able to fully represent Ireland's thriving marketing community. This will allow us to build a more relevant and superior CIM experience for marketers and businesses here.
